This is the front cover that i designed and made myself for the Victorian magazine task. I got my inspiration my looked at numerious different editions of the Victorian magazine and decided to make a cover that was different to the others ones that i had seen. I chose to to a cover that would be eyecatching and yet simple to make as my skills on photoshop leave alot to be desired.I found a picture of myself that i had been taken when i was helming a yacht in the solent as part of the CCF royal navy cadet camp that i had gone on three years ago. The photo still met the criteria that the student had to of taken it, i took the photo myself using the self timer function on my Camera. After findng the photo and getting it in to photo shop i then used the magnetic lassoo tool to cut around myself and get rid of alot of unwanted picture that i did't need. I then took one of the Media cameras and took a picture of the front of the school. I waited for a day with good lighting and minimal clound to make the school look as good and bright as possible. After taking the photo i uploaded that into photoshop and cropped as much of it as i needed to to get it to fit into the A4 page size i was using. I swapped around the layers to make the picture go to the back and positioned the photo in the front right corner, infront of the background photo. The next step was to create two text boxes at the top and the bottom of the page and to simple write "The Victorian Magazine" at the top and "Keeeping you on the right track". I choose this particular phrase as i wanted it to be relevant to the nautical theme i had going and to be a relevant phrase that could be said about the college.
